You Are An ENFJ
The Giver

You strive to maintain harmony in relationships, and you usually succeed.
Articulate and enthusiastic, you are good at making personal connections.
Sometimes you idealize relationships too much - and end up being let down.
You find the most energy and comfort in social situations ... where you shine.

In love, you are very protective and supporting.
However, you do need to "feel special" - and it's quite easy for you to get jealous.

At work, you are a natural leader. You can help people discover their greatest potential.
You would make a good writer, human resources director, or psychologist.

How you see yourself: Trusting, idealistic, and expressive

When other people don't get you, they see you as: Bossy, inappropriate, and loud

I went to Uppsala over the weekend, had a really nice time with L. UlfR made saussages for the meal on saturday at the Aros minature event. I got really inspired to get one of those mulit houshold appliences that can do that. Also got a list at good mediveal cook books. I have two at the moment. Mediveal Cookery by English Heritage and Mediveal Kitchen, recepies from France and Italy. So I am looking forward to some interesting lunches to bring to work.

New stuff

We went to the foteviken viking reservation for their big market and I came back with a bunch of nice stuff.

I bought a wax hardend leather water bottle, a wodden bucket and a basket that works like a back pack. I am really pleased with this stuff it will add a lot of flavour to the camp in Visby.
Really nice quality from what I think were russian merchants, they could be polish, from the baltics, hungary but I think they were russian.

I bought the axe a bit earlier in the week. To me no encampment is complete without an axe. It is made by Gränsfors bruk and while surfing their homepage I found out that they acutally make axes from mediveal finds. That is really cool and I will probably try to order one some time in the future.

The red thing in the right corner is my new hat/ cap made out of wool/ felt. It needs to be remade a bit but I think it will be a very warm pice of headgear. I managed to sew a little today so I just need to attach the arms to my black/ grey cothardie and then it is almost finished. But I am seweing it by hand so Im not quite sure when I will get it done. The plan is to use it under my other cothardie for extra warmth so I will probably make it with ties instead of with buttons, have not decided on this yeat.

I also managed to decide what other garb I will try to sew. So far the plan is a pair of green hoses and a green hood, a brown long tunic all in wool and a light blue linen under tunic/ shirt/ chemise.

It has been a while since I last posted.

This last weekend I went to Uppsala/ Aros and visited Lia and had a wonderfull time.
We went on the traditional Aros pilgrimage to old Uppsala wich was very nice, Lia made a really good salmon and leek pie that I liked a lot. We were about 12 adaults when we arrived after ca two hours of walking in the scorching sun. It was a very warm day. But nice.

We also managed to hang out with Helwig and Johan and go to the cinema to see Iron Man, it was cool. Tough I would have liked the old Black Sabbath song Iron Man to be the only music....

Today my lunch dissapeard. It was rather strange so I had to go and buy some bread and make sandwiches instead of my stew...
When I got home I decided to make mashed potatoes with Falukorv, basically a wurst with a decent meat percentage.
It turned out really nice so now I have food for the whole week. Both the remains of the stew and my mashed potatoes with falukorv.

I used potatoes, carrots, parsnips and onions for my mashed potatoes, got a bit too much milk into it used powdour fort to flavour it with.

Tomorrow its time for an  extra heavy fighting training since Atli is in town. It will be interesting to see how that turnes out. Im used to train in the weeks but not heavy fighting, I dont think the normal 3,5 hour session in armour is a good thing if I am going to be able to do anything at work on thursday.

Now I need to pack my armour and my lunch for tomorrow.

New armour

We had our weekly fighter practice today, first one after double wars and it was great fun. There were five of us, me, Master George, Lord Mickel, Albrecht and Roidh al from the houshold and from the shire. But it was really great fun to se how much the guys had developed after DW.

Anyway Anna one of the new girls came buy and I was quick to hand her my camera so that I could get some pictures of me in armour.

It feels a lot better than the old one wich makes me feel safer and therfore I can go were I need to be in the fight.
The new shield is great, I just need to learn how to use it a bit better but it is really nice to fight with.

Yesterday when I came home from Master Georges place and a wonderfull afternoon sitting under his apple tree talking and beeing invited to stay for a BBQ my computer wouldent start.

Ha a virus I first thought, but no that was wrong. So after some restarts, diagnostics, restors, boot disks etc I finally figured that it probarly was a hard drive malfunction. I saw the problem of sending of the comp to the company I bought it from to get a new hd installed, loosing about 6 months of unbackupped pictures etc.

And then.... as if by a miracle the computer got back to me. First thing I did was to back up all those pictures.
So now i have added even more security to the comp and I will have to keep my fingers crossed untill I start the computer again.

Also managed to do some cooking made a nice vegetarian stew with Halumi chese, onions, carrots, mushroms, black beans, red lentels, cooking wheat ( you know that stuff thats used in all our mediveal banquets). Spiced it with red curry, garlic, ginger, white pepper some salt. And just let it cook for a few hours.. Nothing much just the joy of making a nice warm meal. Also got some salad that I will add to the meal. Like to have some green leafy stuff with the food. So now I have a working comp again and lunches for work.

The post event feelings are always mixed especially after such a long event as double wars. I am getting more and more convinced that I need to change my job, to what I do not now yet. At the moment I am thinking of going for a course that will let me work as a "health coach" were I can use my knowledge from years of Tai Chi, qigong. meditation etc training. It will however cost me a bit and I will have to use some of my saved vacation days to be able to complete it.

The only thing I feel certain about is that I need something new to do.

Yesterday I did my helmet care. I cleaned, polished and waxed the helmet so now it looks great again. I also managed to do my laundry.

And now it is time to go to the tai chi chuan class. Not enough training this week, but I needed the break.

Life

As usually life goes on.

I have had quite a busy feburary, I held the King Atte Winter Feast for our shire. It was great fun but a lot of work.
We were around 25 - 30 people I designed the menu and stood in the kitchen a lot, but I had Cecilia and Eira as assistants as well as a few others. I started of by holding a 2 hour introduction about the SCA for the new people. We had some from denmark and some from a few other places that visited us. It is always fun to make new friends.

I have changed my workplace so now I have to commute for 35 minutes via train and I have to get to the trainstation wich is a good 20 min walk in the morning and evening.

Yesterday we held a preperation day for double wars so now we have a half finished sun roof and a lot of site tokens. Today we went with the shire to a reenactment store wich is also a cafe. We had scones with jam and butter and I bought 10 meters of wool. I got 2 meters of a beautifull orangie reddish colour that I plan to use for a viking caftan. I also got 4 meters of green and 4 meters of brown wool that I can use for trousers, tunics etc. I managed to pic up some patterns for viking clothing too so it looks like the next dress is going to be a viking/ saxon/ rus style. Wich goes well with my armour and the fyrd Halfdan.

We have shields comming, I have scales for my lamellar armour and paracord on the way. My Bazubands from Torvaldr has finaly arrived. So all I need to do is fix the new leg armor and sew the fighting kit.

Apart from SCA I have been going to a few interesting seminars. We did Yin Bagua Zhang for Fredrik, Sifu Wan Kam Leung from Hong Kong was in Malmö and held a seminar in Wing Chun and Andreas Hoffmann held a seminar in Gee Sim Weng Chun in Copenhagen. This was in three weeks. :) Next fun thing in the practice/ training area of my life is that we are going to master Brian in the end of march for a Tai Chi Chuan weekend. Hopefully I will get a lot closer to the end of the third section of the first form and finish the emtpy hands form. After that master Xian is here between the 5 - 11 th of april for a week of Xin Yi. That is going to be fun.

Group photo after the Chi Sim Weng Chun Kung Fu seminar in Copenhagen. Great fun.

After that Double Wars and then.... I don´t know.

But the best thing is that I get to see J again soon.

Well as usually I thinkt that I will have time to post but somehow the time just goes away.

Sunday was my first time in armour for the season, I sucked, but that is why we train. I had a good time tough, it is a really good bunch of guys to train and fight with.

I managed to finally get my new helmet from Knotwolf strappedand ready to use. Still need to fix a better padding but it felt nice. Good hits feel solid and it does not sound as a bell, wich I was afraid of.

Me and lord Richard doing what we do best.... Slacking.

I managed to secure a deal for a lammelar armour with 615 D shaped plates from Master Magnus of White Mountain armoury via Armour Arhive for a decent price. It will probrby be enough for lammelar armours for me and Rohid. According to Torvaldr our babuzons are soon ready for shipping and I will buy some aluminium from Master George to make a nice oval shield. All that is left is to get hockey gear for my legs and sew the covering garnments and the new armour is done.

The plans for the Hus Halfdan is also on the way. It is our fighting household if you have been on civil war or double war in Drachenald we are the guys with the huge black shields with a yellow (golden) viking style dragon on them.

Now it is late and I really need to sleep.
Take care all.

I am in Uppsala at J's place its soo good to see her again.

Anyway we went to D-walds coronation, I had a great time. Old friends, new friends, late nights, parties all in all a great event.

I will post my pictures here

Since I am not at home I only added one pic so far. But more will come during the week.

Take care all.

So I survived the new years celebration this year as well. It is not that we partied hard, we hardly partied at al. But the rest of the people celebrating with fireworks were not to good with their aim. Celebrating with fireworks in the middle of a city is an experience, master George has compared it to a night in Beirut in the 80s.

Here are some pictures:

I am surprised that the guy in red keept all of his fingers, and that he didnt injure anybody.
He and his friends were rather wreckless with how they fired and aimed and threw the firework around.
I sound grumpy.... ;) but its anoying when the fun is wrecked by this rather dangerous behaviour.

If you want so see more they are at my flickr page.

However the evening was really nice, it was me and three friends from my Kung fu club so we talked, ate, drank a few drams of whiskey, talked some more, had snacks, talked more etc. untill about 4 in the morning.

Chirstmas also passed and it was very fine. I got to see my sister and her family again. Wich always is nice. We all got toghether at our parents place for a few days and then went to my dads sisters place for the big family get together on the 24th. I must admit that X-mas for me is all about getting together with family and friends since I have chosen a different path than Cristianity.  Anyway. There are pictures from this as well.

This is Lukas my sisters son, we were playing peekaboo.Though I used a camera.

My father helping Lukas unpacking one of his gifts. Lukas is sitting with his dad Stefan.
I enjoy the scene and the exitement and anticipation especially in the childs body language
but it is also present in the faces of the two men. Maybe I should have had the flash on higher
setting but it works with a bit of under exposure.

Tina my sister watching Lukas playing.                                           Stefan helping his mother in law, my mother Agnetha, with
                                                                                                                  the computer.

Here a self portrait of me. Even though the
white balance is completley wrong I still like the tone of it.

More x-mas photos

And some late photos from the kitchen of the Nordmark Principality tournament november 2008.

Some of the meat....

Lady Cecilia the feastocrat. She was the concort of Lord Richad who was one of the autocrats.
So to get everything working I stayed in the kitchen and cooked heated and prepared. Hard
work but great fun. She is also the autocrat for Double wars XXI.

The preperations for the feast started at friday evening.

Danne, Eira and I think Lia in the background helping out.                                                      Lord Richard making glögg.

The rest of the very few pictures can be found here.

So take care all. I hope too see a lot of you at coronation or at other events in 2008.

My dads aunt Evy passed avay a few weeks ago and today it was the funeral. She was 94 years old and had a full life so no one of us felt sad, but as always a funeral is an emotional occasion.

Nomo Amitofo.

I took this picture the las time I saw her at the nursing home. Here together with my father.
Camera: Nikon D50 and turned the picture BW in paint.net added a bit of contrast.
I lke this picture a lot and it is one of my absolute favourites.

So apart from the sad news. Im feelng better. Finally the flu is goooooone. I can feel energy returning to my body. With any luck I will be able to start practice the coming week again. Im planing on wednesday, might do some form at home by myself tough.

Me and grandmster Qian Zhouhong, of the Xin Yi Liu He Quan
Heart Intention six harmonies boxing.

The Xin Yi Liu He Quan is an extremely interesting martial arts system, apparently there is documentation of its movements and patterns back to the 1500ds ca 1570 wich makes it one of the worlds oldest documented martial arts. Normally it is not considerd to be an internal system, its ofspring system of Xing Yi is. But Qian has added a lot of internal aspects from Taji chuan and QiGong into his teaching.
It is really interesting to do "normal" martial arts and to see what happens when you add. SCA heavy fighting.

Well I feel better, I can eat and I have an appertite wichi is good, still have a fever and a very anoying head ache. However I will try to survive the day and night without any of the horse pills.

Beeing sick is really boring. No energy to do anything.

edricus: (Default)
So I got the flu. Actually have to stay home from work, that Sux.

Anyway I managed to help Earl Sir Morgan and Barones Branwen move into their new Tolkienesque appartment. It is very very cool wiht lots of Tolken graphics and interior design from th books.

After that I have been flat out for basically to days and I dont think that I am going to make it back to work tomorrow. However a few obeservations 400mg ibumetin pills rule, and thank god for daytime tv.
edricus: (Default)

I feel frustrated over not training, I usually like to train 3-5 times a week preferbly close to 15 hours a week or so. It makes me feel great.
Since I am in the middle of changing workplace, at the same agency but going to a different branch, and Im also having one of the colds from hell that dont let go I have only been at 1 session per week. But today me and my colleague who also is changing work decided to make chocolate fudge cake for the whole office (100 people) I missed my beloved Tai Chi Chuan / QiGong Class that I attend and teach at thursdays.

My body really wants me to move, I can feel the ache and the intentions of my limbs to go of and do stupid things. On the positive side is that the energy is transfering itself into good things and projects.

The good thing is that on monday at the new place I get a brisk 20 min walk to and from work, that is great, got raingear and good boots.

But I like to train I do actually have a small problem understanding people who don't train and especially if they dont have any hobys at all I don't understand what they can be doing, watching TV?

I need training and physical activites and since I also hapen to love martial arts its a good thing. I just wish I had the self dicipline to train form etc for an hour a day. That would be really nice.

However I am still on the century drill, today is day five and that is better than nothing. All training is better than no training.

A long day

Nov. 27th, 2007 10:21 pm
edricus: (Default)
After work we had the follow up meeting for the Nordmark Coronet tourney and Mårtens feast held together with Torsheim.
It took 2,5 hours and even tough I normally dont like meetings and especially long ones this one was actually quite good.

Next tuseday its time for the first of the double wars meetings. Im really looking forward to that event too. Its going to be a great time.

In general things worked ot great and no guests saw the chaos that always is behind the scene. Everything worked out fine even tough the site is a nightmare to serve 120  people at. The kitchen is located 300 meters away from the castle. Cobbled stones so you have to be carefull when you drive stuff to the castle otherwis you will end up with a car filled with food.

I had a great time at the event, I put my mind to stay in the kitchen on the saturday so I was prepared for a lot of hard work. Managed to get through the day with only one small burn and no cuts to my fingers. Wich given the amount of cutting I did is a small miracle.

We chose to go with few courses but make sure everybody got a lot of food. Since the event was in november everybody needs more energy to stay warm. We knew we would have a lot of guests 120 people is the about the limit of how many you can fit into the great hall. So basically we went for a few simple courses that could be prepared as much as possible. Wich is way harder to do when you dont have access to a restaurant kitchen. But it worked out quite ok.

Hard work makes you happy.
This is natural.
edricus: (Default)

Or to be more correct of the meta-me Edricus.

I decided to get a name and a device to register at the heralds of the SCA.

The device / coat of arms will proberbly be :

"Per saltire argent and vert, in pale two annulets gules."

The name will be the name I have been using for the last ten years in the so ciety.
Edricus Filius Offaeus wich is a latinised form of Edric son of Offa. The latinisation puts the name a bit after 1066 and I am in the process of finding documentation.

Missed my Chinese class today, I worked late and was to tired when I got home.

I almost forgott. Managed to do day 3 of the century drill. A training exercise for heavy fighting, the goal is to do 100 strikes a day for 100 days. As far as I know sir Marcus is one of the few who has manged to do this, not even the "inventor" of the drill Duke Radnor has finished it.

Started to plan a small book get together about the work of Tolkien with Angmar, the Tolkien society in Malmö. There is thss really cool place called Citypolarna that is kind of a online calendar were you can meet new people. Almost like an online dating service, but without the dating just being social. So I thought I'd try to get more people interested in Angmar and later on in Attemark our local SCA shire too.
